The Woollahra Hotel

The Woollahra Hotel is an iconic Art Deco building constructed in 1938 by Tooth and Co. The pub went through a series of transformations before being acquired by our client in 2019.

Based on their brief to create a venue with an enduring legacy, we set out to design a public bar that responded to the venue’s iconic restaurant Bistro Moncur, the Art Deco heritage and its prominent position in the neighbourhood.

The interior was inspired by the spirit of a classic Australian pub with tiled walls, polished timber bar and terrazzo floors. The venue has far greater presence on the street with new steel framed operable glazing and high gloss teal façade tiles.

The hotel now has a genuine sense of permanence with a pub that is designed to last generations.
