R E T R O - B E I N G

The collision between tradition and the future is a hit topic in the fashion world. With the development of technology, technology has become an inseparable part of our daily. But also because of its development, the importance of tradi- tional, craft-made, and cultural things has attracted more and more attention.

With this background, Designer VV SU created the project “Retro-Being,” which aims to open a discussion about what the future looks like to the new gen- eration and how it differs from previous generations’ perception of the future through the lens of fashion. SU believes that, in contrast to the “space race” aesthetic, this generation values the concept of “sorrow for things” while explor- ing all the technical advancements. Thus, by studying couture techniques from Cristobal Balenciaga and traditional Chinese garments, Su produced a future that the tradition and the tech/cyber merge with one another.
