50 QUEENS
In Copenhagen, there are five times as many statues of animals as there are of named women. To write this wrong, Golden Days translated the debate on representation into action and made history's prominent women visible.
Together with BIG, we erected 50 pedestals to honor history's heroines in the heart of Copenhagen. A jury selected 49 women from Danish history, each of whom was assigned a pedestal. Meanwhile, one pedestal was left anonymous as an invitation to the public to provide their input on the question: Whom have we forgotten? The goal was to provide an action-oriented contribution and to chart a new course for the conversation on how to make women more visible in both public spaces and history.
525,000 spectators participated and the impactful spacial takeover of the central square and made international headlines with a total media reach of 291 million people worldwide.

50 QUEENS was an exhibition during the historical festival Golden Days, which took place in september 2022. The exhibition was created and conceptualized by the art institution Kunsthal Charlottenborg and architect BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group. Visual concept was made by design agency Studio C. And the exhibition was manufactured by Arkitekturminiteriet.

Culture, history, nature and science should not be for the specially initiated. That is why we create experiences that cannot be avoided.
With events, campaigns, consultancy and publications, we find attractive angles, attract new audiences and create meeting places for Denmark's most interesting cultural, natural and scientific institutions. We have been doing this for nearly 30 years.
